Privacy Policy

The short version

FindTool does not collect the content you paste into its tools, does not require an account, and does not set advertising or tracking cookies. We collect aggregate, anonymous traffic statistics so we know which tools are worth improving.

What we do not collect

We never collect, transmit, log or store the data you enter into a FindTool tool. The JSON you format, the token you decode, the password you generate, the file you hash and the text you diff are processed by JavaScript running in your own browser. That content is never sent to us, because the site has no server-side component that could receive it.

This is a property of how the site is built, not a policy we could quietly change. You can confirm it by opening your browser's developer tools, switching to the Network tab, and using any tool on the site.

What we do collect

We use Cloudflare Web Analytics, a privacy-focused analytics service that does not use cookies, does not fingerprint visitors, and does not track people across sites. It records, in aggregate:

• which pages were visited, and how many times
• the referring site or search engine, where the browser provides one
• country, derived from IP address at the edge — the IP itself is not stored by us
• device type, browser and operating system
• page load performance measurements

We may also record anonymous interaction counts, such as "the copy button on the JSON Formatter was clicked". These counts contain the name of the action and the tool only. They never include any part of your input.

None of this identifies you, and none of it is sold, rented or shared with advertisers or data brokers.

Cookies and local storage

FindTool sets no cookies. It uses your browser's localStorage for exactly one thing: remembering whether you chose light or dark mode. That value stays on your device, is never transmitted, and clearing your browser data removes it. Some tools remember your option settings the same way, again locally only.

Hosting and data processors

The site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages and served through Cloudflare's CDN. As with any website, Cloudflare processes technical connection data — including your IP address — in order to deliver pages and protect against attacks. This is handled under Cloudflare's own privacy terms. We do not have access to raw server logs containing individual IP addresses.

Fonts are served from our own domain rather than a third-party font CDN, so no font provider receives a request from your browser.

Advertising

FindTool currently shows no advertising and includes no advertising scripts. If advertising is introduced in future — most likely Google AdSense — this policy will be updated before any ad code is deployed, and the update will state plainly what the ad provider collects and how to opt out. Advertising would never be given access to the content you enter into a tool.

Your rights

Because we do not collect personal data, we generally hold nothing about you to access, correct or delete. If you have sent us an email, we hold that email. You can ask us to delete it at any time by writing to [email protected].

If you are in the EU, UK, or a US state with comparable legislation, the aggregate analytics described above are collected on the basis of legitimate interest in understanding site usage. No consent banner is shown because no consent-requiring technology is used.

Children

FindTool is a developer utility aimed at a professional audience. It is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes materially — in particular, if advertising or any new third-party service is added — the "last updated" date above will change and the affected sections will be rewritten to describe the new behaviour accurately.
